Description
1 – Paperback 32nd Edition La Cuisiniere de la Campagne et de la Ville (The Country Cook and the City Cook) by Louis-Eustache Audot. published by Audot Libraire-Editeur Paris c. 1852. In the nineteenth and early twentieth century, if a French home owned a cookbook, the odds are very strong that it was a copy of this volume. Known familiarly as ?Audot, " La Cuisini?re de la Campagne et de la Ville was his most well-known and widely distributed work, first published in 1818 and in print for over a hundred years. In what is likely the original marbled paper binding with paper title label on cover and spine. 694 illustrated pages, some hand-colored, in French. Book measures 6 7/8" x 4 1/4" x 1 3/4"
Condition: Condition – Very good – wear and loss to paper cover, especially to edges and corners. Paper label on front cover has some loss at top and soiling. Spine is worn and faded. Head and tail show wear. Former owners names in pencil inside front cover. Pages having toning. First few pages have small tears in margin consistent with age and use. Please see photos.
