Description
1 hardcover late 19th century / early 20th century hand-written cookbook in quarter leather binding with marbled boards. Contains hand-written recipes and newspaper clipping recipes including chocolate icing, strawberry sherbert, ham croquettes, fruit cake and many more. Approximately 70 pages, in English. Book measures 7 3/8" 5 3/4" x 3/8". Four loose hand-written recipes for: two egg cake (on Verser Dining Hall, Harlingen TX letterhead); rolls with Chocolate Coconut Divinity on reverse; Cabinet Pudding with Coffee Cream Caramels on reverse; and peanut butter candy (on Lincoln Fire Insurance Co. Chicago Letterhead)
Condition: Condition – Good – Boards show significant wear. Corners and edges have loss. Spine has wear and loss to head and tail. Front joint has a 3" spilt at head and a 2" spilt at tail but remains intact. Hinge split but intact. Old bookstore sticker inside front cover. Toning, foxing and staining throughout. All consistent with use and age. Loose recipes in good condition. Toning, fold creases, some holes and tears to edges. Please see photos.
