1 – Hardcover The Southern Housekeeper – A Book of Tested Recipes collected by the Home Department of the Ladies’ Missionary Society of the Central Presbyterian Church Atlanta, GA published by The Franklin Printing and Publishing Co. Atlanta c. 1898. An important 19th century Georgia cookbook with one of the earliest recipes for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Contributors are all listed. Embossed brown cloth cover with gilt lettering. 139 pages plus additional pages of advertisements and "fragments" in back. In English. Book measures 8"x5 1/4"x5/8".
Condition: Condition – Good – Brown cloth cover worn, soiled and stained. Gilt lettering on cover faded. Corners bumped and worn. Corner on lower back chipped/loss. Spine has loss to head and tail. Former owner ex-libris inside front cover. Text block has toning and foxing throughout. Please see photos.
