Description
English Walnut William and Mary Highboy In Two-Parts Early 18th Century. The secondary wood is oak. Base has turned legs with stretcher and two drawers. The base backboard is dovetailed to the sides. Upper portion has five dovetailed drawers. Pulls and keyhole escutcheons are not original. Measures 58 1/2" high X 41 1/2" wide X 24 1/2" deep. Provenance: Waverly Mansion Circa 1852, West Point, Mississippi Collection, Charlie and Dana Stephenson. Condition- Original holes for pull bolts/screws have been filled with wooden pegs. Base is weak and should be reglued. Missing a 2 1/2" piece of molding at one end of base. Missing a 1" piece of molding between two top drawers. The back has been replaced, veneer has waves and breaks. This piece will require several repairs. See photos.
