Description
J. O. Bass Hand Forged Spurs, 1891-1905. Marked, "No. 73 J. O. Bass Quitaque, Tex; Benton Jackson." The name "Benton Jackson" may refer to the customer that Bass forged the spurs for. The tag from Antique Archaeology reads, "J.O. Bass Spurs. No. 73 of estimated 2,000 handforged spurs made in Quitaque, TX from 1891-1905. Bass began making spurs for matador cowboys on the side from his regular blacksmithing job in Motley County. He patented several styles of spurs and bridle bits such as the locked rowel spur and the curb-flange bridle. Condition: Condition- Metal has some old worn silver paint, wear, and surface rust. Missing one strap. See photos.
