Description
Circa 1947 Kay Bass Season 10 Ep. 11. Mike and Frank bought this bass under the assumption that it could have been Bill Black’s of Elvis Presley fame. It was featured on Season 16 Episode 2 "Bonnie, Clyde and The King." In the episode, they carried the base to James Burton, famed American guitarist, for his opinion. James is one of the finest American guitarist to ever live. At one time he was the leader of Presley’s TCB Band and played with Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Jerry Lee Lewis, Vince Gill, and many others. After careful inspection, Burton said that although the bass was a 1947 Kay bass, which was right for the Bill Black era, for numerous reasons, he did not believe that the bass had ever belonged to Bill Black. Measures 10" deep X 26 1/4" wide X 78 1/4" high (including stand). This piece needs to be picked up in person by buyer or private shipper. This piece should not be shipped by common carriers. Provenance the remaining inventory of Antique Archaeology, closed Nashville, Tennessee location.
Condition: Condition- Numerous damages, old repairs, missing wood chips, cracks, missing bridge, the neck is held in place by four dry-wall screws, one screw has cracked the base of neck, wear, scratches, and losses to finish, etc. See photos.
