William Exeter (England) c. 1842 Vol. I and II in faux leather binding with gilt decoration and titles on spine (Scotts Napoleon); Memoirs of Napoleon Bonaparte by Louis Antoine Fauvelvet de Bourrienne (His Private Secretary) Edited by R.W. Phipps New and Revised Edition with numerous Illustrations in four volumes published by Charles Scribners Sons New York c. 1891 in blue cloth bindings with gilt decoration and lettering (Vol. I – IV); Three Volumes Memoirs of the Emperor Napoleon From Ajaccio to Waterloo, As Soldier, Emperor, Husband by Madame Junot, Duchesse de D’Abrantes in three volumes published by St. Dunstan Society Akron, Ohio c. 1901 illustrated in color, in red cloth bindings with paper title label on spine. Gilt top edge, untrimmed fore and bottom edges; and Three Volumes Memoirs of Napoleon Bonaparte from the French of M. Fauvelet de Bourrienne by John S. Memes in three volumes published by P.F. Collier New York 1892, in black cloth binding with gilt decoration and lettering. Combined lot measures approximately 13"x8.5"x9".
Condition: Condition – Scotts Napoleon Vol. I and II – Very Good – Some light soiling and staining to covers. Wear to cover edges. Corners bumped and worn. Spine shows wear and fading. Gilt decoration and lettering strong. Wear to head and tail. Joint spilt on Vol.1 but intact. Hinges split in both volumes but intact. Bindings tight. Foxing and toning throughout; Memoirs of Napoleon Bonaparte Vol. I-IV – Very Good – Blue cloth covers show wear especially to corners and edges. Spines worn at heads, tails and joints. Gilt decoration on cover strong. Gilt lettering on spine lightly faded. Upper corner creased first 50 pages Vol. 1. Otherwise, contents clean; Memoirs of the Emperor Napoleon Vol. I-III – Very Good – Red cloth covers show some light soiling and stains. Wear to corners. Spines lightly faded with some wear. Heads and tails bumped and worn. Paper title labels toned with some loss around edges, esp. Vol. II. Contents clean and bindings tight; Life of Napoleon the Great Vol. I-III – Good – Wear to black cloth covers. Corners bumped and worn. Spines faded and worn. Wear and loss to head and tail. Block edges lightly soiled. Toning to edges. Former owner ink stamp inside front cover. Front hinge split on Vol. I and II. First four pages of Vol. 1 loose. Please see photos.
