Description
Union Colonel Lucius Fairchild (1831-1896) Photograph. Fairchild is in uniform and is clearly displaying the loss of his arm, which occurred at the Battle of Gettysburg. Signed at bottom, “Lucius Fairchild Brig. Genl. Vols.” Fairchild was appointed as Brigadier General by Lincoln but was never confirmed by the senate. This photo was probably taken in October of 1863, just after Lincoln appointed him. Visible image: 5 1/4″ X 7 3/8″. Condition- Overall good condition with some staining and discoloration. See photos.
