Description
1878 Colt Double Barrel 12 Ga. Shotgun with Hammers. Barrels are 32" Damascus. The receiver is marked, "Colt’s Pt. F A Mfg. Co." Serial No. 3961. A very early serial number. Per Colt.com/serial-lookup this shotgun was manufactured in 1880. The receiver, barrels and trigger guard serial numbers all match. Stock is the original burl walnut. This firearm was manufactured before 1898. Payment terms: Invoices over $500 from bidders unknown to auctioneer are required to be paid with bank wire transfer, company check, cash, or money order.***Buyer must be 21 years or older to purchase and a resident US citizen. This firearm will not be sold to residents of California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Washington D.C., or US Territories*** Condition- The gun does appear to be in working condition. This gun has considerable pitting inside barrels and a seam is exposed in the right barrel from chamber to the end of barrel. Although this gun appears to be in working order it should not be shot without inspection and approval by a qualified gunsmith. For exterior metal condition see photos. Stock has crack below side plate radiating to triggers on right side. Also has small hairline crack on the left side of gun that radiates toward the triggers. Forearm has some wood loss, heavy scratches, and wear. See photos.
