Description
Three Brown Stoneware Whiskey Jugs. (1) 12" high D. E. (Daniel Esker) Summerford brown whiskey jug. Summerford’s shop was located in the Cherry Tree Community on State Line Rd. His mailing address was Bexar, Alabama. His shop was located southeast of Tremont, Mississippi, close to the state line. The shop was operated from 1915-1941. This jug is a good example of the three finger swipe down at the termination of the handle, which was an identifying mark of Summerford pottery before they used a stamp. Smaller brown jugs measure 8" and 5" high. Condition- Smallest jug has chips and flakes. Summerford jug has some chips at rim and flaking but is in overall good condition. The 8" jug is in good condition. See photos.
