RARE Daniel Esker Summerford Family Personal Water Jug. This blue and white stoneware one gallon jug belonged to a member of the Summerford family who’s shop was located in the Cherry Tree Community, Marion County, Bexar, Alabama. This jug has some of the identical decorations as a water jug photographed on page 277 of "The Jug Shop District of Itawamba County" by Sherry Booth Bennett, Published 2021. This jug has a three-finger swipe-down at the termination of the handle. This swipe down is indicative of Summerford Pottery. The jug is decorated with animals, including a monkey with caption that reads, "this is Argis, " a clown with the name Sara Lee just above, a little boy with the name Bobcat, dog, cat, horse, Indian boy, Indian baby in papoose, lady named Betty Lou, the handle has a tooth brush and reads, "use once a year, " another lady named Betty, seal, one caption reads, "Prosperity is just around the corner, " and other various decorations. Provenance: Harold Boone estate Tupelo, Mississippi. See photos. Condition- Both spouts have been broken and are missing pieces and the handle has a hairline crack on one side. The rest of the jug is in good condition.
