"The Circus" 1958-1959 By. Carl Elwell with (178) Original Hand-Tinted and Black and White Photographs. The largest photos are approximately 6 5/8" X 7". Marked at the bottom of page 2: "Photos and Editing by Carl B. Elwell and Carl E. Elwell 509 Moreley Ave. Akron, Ohio." Total pages: 97. Of these pages, Elwell, on average, did at least one pen and ink caricature. The first pages of the book include shots from Cristaiani Bros Circus, Akron Rubber Bowl, August 2, 1958. Several photos of a circus caravan in on parade and streets lined with people. A 19th C. riverboat calliope, snake lady, lions, elephants, acrobats, giraffes, clowns and more clowns, Boghonghi The Clown, "The Elliotts" equestrian show, Corky Cristiani, Jane Cristiani, The Zacchinis human cannon ball, Jack Mills"Mills Brothers Circus-Independence Ohio May 1959, The Munos from Spain, The Umbertis from Italy. We are told that the only other album of this type produced by Mr. Carl Elwell is in The Ringling Circus Museum Sarasota Florida.
