Description
3 – 19th Century Silver Gelatin Photographs of San Juan Capistrano Mission, in San Juan Capistrano, California. Photographs (6 13/16" x 4 13/16") are mounted on board (10 7/8" x 6 7/8") with hand-written poems under each photograph. Captions read " – and vines and mosses climb in kind, – tho’ vain attempt to hide the finger marks of time:"; "and paved the cloisters, that their feet might safely find the way that leads to peace:"; and " – and laid the tile in walls and arches, safely turned and keyed – and prayed the while:" Unsigned.
Condition: Condition – Very Good – one photograph has a couple of minor scratches – boards have foxing and toning to edges. Some loss to corners. Two boards have small tears to margin and another has a small chip to margin. Please see photos.
