Measures 7 3/16" x 4 3/4" x 1"; and Jacques Vingtras by Jean La Rue (nome de plume of Jules Valles) published by G. Charpentier Paris c. 1879 1st Edition. Quarter bound in brown calf leather with gilt lettering and decoration on the spine with marbled boards and end papers. Hardcover, 296 pages in French. Book measures 7" x 4 3/16" x 1 1/16". Les R?fractaires is considered an important work of French literature and a significant contribution to the socialist literary tradition. It foreshadows Vall?s’s later, more famous novel, Jacques Vingtras, which further explores similar themes.
