Lot of 43 – 18th and 19th century historic political documents related to Napoleon and the Napoleonic Wars including a facsimile copy of the Letter of Abdication of Emperess Josephine; Napoleon – La Documentation Illustree published by I’Imprimerie Grifay Paris c. 1900 (not dated); Engraving on board "Biyouac Francais, Veille D’Austerlitz" (not dated); 1 copy of Gazette de Liege October 29, 1792 Newspaper in French; Two copies of Journal du Soir (Evening News) from June 15 and 16, 1809 published in Paris by the Chaignieau Brothers, in French; and 43 copies of from March to October 1813 of Journal du Departement des Bouches de la Meuse (The Hague, Netherlands) in French and Dutch. Each copy measures approximately 10 "x 8 3/4". These are the months leading up to the Battle of Leipzig during the War of the 6th Coalition. These documents detail troop movements and other news from the Napoleonic Wars across the French Republic and occupied territories. Combined lot measures 15.5"x12"x2".
Condition: Condition – Newspapers are in very good condition, with some soiling, frayed edges, creases, and toning all consistent with age and use. Engraving has been glued to a board. Wear around edges and soiled and stained; Napoleon – La Documentation Ilustre – front and back cover a loose. Contents clean; facsimile abdication letter – very good. Mounted on hand drawn mat and suitable for framing. Please see photos.
