Late 19th Century Photograph of Fabulous Memphis, Tennessee Bar. Majestic back-bar with 3D image in crest of man wearing hat. Foreground has a large display case full of cigars. The bartender is cleaning/replacing a shade on chandelier. Etched or painted advertising windows at the entrance read, “Bluff City Cigar Factory; Tennessee Brewing; ???” The Memphis Cigar Factory, of which A. Pontius was the proprietor, was situated at 50 Jefferson Street, corner of Second. Mr. Pontius occupied there the entire upper floor and also the basement. He had 15-20 cigar makers and roughly 10 other employees, and had an output of about 90,000 cigars a week. Image: 4 1/2″ X 7 1/2″. Overall: 8″ X 10″. Condition- Overall good condition with some discoloration/staining in top left corner and left edge. See photos.
