Description
John Gould British (1804-1881) Pair of Bird Lithographs. Illustrations from " A Monograph of The Trochilidae" or "Family of Hummingbirds" published between 1849 and 1887. These plates were engraved by H. C. Richter. The handcolored lithograph sheets measure 14 3/4" x 22". The visible matted plate measures 14" x 20". (1) White-Bellied Emerald (Thaumatias Albiventris). (1) Doubleday’s Hummingbird (Circe Doubledayi) (1) The frame measures 26 1/4" x 32 1/4". The original title pages. Condition – The lithographs have some toning and a few minor foxing spots. See Photos. The frames are modern of a 19th Century design. The title pages have considerable toning with some edge tears.
