Description
Circle of Salvator Rosa (Italian, 1615-1673) Marina with Rock Arch Oil On Canvas Painting. The original of this painting by Rosa is located in the collection of Doria Pamphili Gallery in Rome, Italy. Titled, "Marina Con Arco Roccioso, " and was painted 1648-1649, measuring 66.5 X 151cm. This painting is signed on verso of canvas, "S. Rosa." There appears to be a faint signature lower left of canvas. The signature was indecipherable by auctioneers. Canvas measures 24" X 42". Frame measures 29 3/8" high X 47 3/8". Provenance: Lynne Fairchild Spragins Dodson estate, Jackson, Tennessee. Condition- Canvas has craquelure, small tears and holes, paint loss, etc. Painting is missing one area of paint, 1/2" X 3/4". Frame has gesso losses, etc. and will require restoration. See photos.
