(1) Hardcover The 1776 -1876 Centennial Cookbook and General Guide by Mrs. Ella E. Meyers, published by J.B. Myers, Philadelphia c. 1876. "Illustrated. Practical Receipts, in four parts, embracing modern cookery, in all its arts, family medicines and household remedies, farming hints and complete farriery, events of the last century. Book measures 7 1/2" x 5" x 1 1/4" and 1 Favorite Dishes – A Columbian Cookery Book compiled by Carrie V. Shuman printed by R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. Chicago c. 1893. "A Columbian Autograph Souvenir Cookery Book over three hundred autograph recipes and twenty-three portraits, contributed specially by the Board of Lady Managers of the World’s Columbian Exposition (Chicago). Book measures 8 3/4" x 6 3/8" x 7/8".
Condition: The Centennial Cook Book – Condition – Very Good – Embossed cover with gilt Liberty Bell and lettering on cover and spine. Spine and gilt lettering on spine is faded with wear to head and tail. Back cover is embossed with profile of George Washington and the Seal of the State of Pennsylvania. Front and back covers have wear to corners and edges. Light foxing and toning throughout. Penciled price inside front cover. Stain on fore edge. Binding tight. Favorite Dishes – A Colombian Autograph Souvenir – Condition – Near Fine – Mylar cover over yellow boards. Cover and spine embossed white art nouveau flowers and gilt lettering. Gilt top edge. Cover and spine have very light soiling and staining. Corners lightly bumped and worn. Head and tail of spine worn. Ink inscription on flyleaf. Bookshop sticker inside front cover. Light foxing and toning to inside front and back cover. Binding tight. A beautiful book. All consistent with age and use. Please see photos.
