Description
(4) Mid 19th Century Gentleman Tintypes. (1) Older gentleman with beard. Interior padding has pencil writing, including: “Maj. (Major),” his name (indecipherable), and the date, “1864.” Visible image: 2 1/2″. Housed in a leather case. (1) Nicely dressed gentleman with bow tie. Visible image: 2″ X 2 1/2″. Housed in a leather case. (1) Smaller tintype of older gentleman in coat with large brass buttons, possibly military. Visible image: 1 1/2″ X 2″. Housed in a gutta percha case. (1) Seated gentleman. Visible image: 2 1/2″ X 3″. Condition- All cases have wear. See photos. (1) Major has some scratches, discoloration, and a small area in the gentleman’s hair with some white unknown substance (paint, polish?). (1) Bow tie gentleman has some scratches and discolorations. (1) Seated gentleman has some image loss at the visible edge, some oxidation of gilt trim, and an earlier mount in an oval frame. (1) Smaller image is in overall good condition. See photos.
