Description
1789 French Mourning Plaque with Hair Weeping Willow Tree and Memorial Reliquary Monument, Decorated with Sea Pearls. Plaque decoration is assembled on opal glass with oval gold gilt frame fitting. Verso is dated 1789 in pencil and has an indecipherable inscription (most likely the name of the deceased). Glass measures approx. 3" x 3 1/2". Frame measures 4 3/4" x 5 1/2". Condition- The plaque is in good condition. The frame has, overall, mild craquelure. Gilt fitting has some gilt loss. See photos.
